Beyond the Silk Curtains

£525.00

Here we have a view of the sky, sea and deserted shoreline through an illusion window framed by curtains with a curtain pole at the top from which the curtains are suspended. I grappled with the idea of adding framing to add some authenticity to the window but decided against it as it would disturb the view.

This was an interesting experience! I was experimenting with sculpture art and it struck me how the folds and undulations I was crafting could become a pair of curtains…… and this idea to combine the sculpted curtains with art on canvas eventually filtered through. Essentially it is a painted canvas with the addition of clay sculpted curtains at each side. When it came to assembly there was something quite definitely missing, which I remedied with the attachment of the curtain pole!

Altogether, an unusual work which many find intriguing.
