Arctic Lights
This was a really joyful yet challenging exploration into UV reactive paint involving much experimentation and testing to see what worked! The result has movement and body in the water, structure and definition to the Arctic mountains and a fabulous show of colour in the sky which reflects on the mountains.
In daylight the painting has texture and presence. The mountains were created with a palette knife to indicate the hard lines and angles whilst the ocean was accomplished using fluid techniques to create the flow and movement of water. Under a UV reactive light the painting transforms as the glowing arctic lights appear above the mountain peaks.
A really unique artwork which took me to a whole new level .
61cm x 46cm x 3.5cm stretched canvas. Resin applied to the water surface, varnish to the rest of the painting.
