Red Sea Reef
I completed this painting many months ago and considered whether I should add fish, vegetation, sea bed, sea grass…like many things left for a time, the solution eventually presents itself. I realised that it needed nothing further and was perfect.
It is a real show stopper - incredibly vibrant and rich with a real flavour of oceanic organic material. The paint has melded beautifully with a mass of cellular structures in many shades of blue, green, gold and copper. The irregular forms reach upwards from the dark ocean floor with their curves and shapes shimmering amid the gentle swirls and bubbles of the seawater.
As a scuba diver, I have been privileged to witness the magic of the ocean depths and I believe this to be a wonderful evocative portrayal of a verdant coral reef.
