Myrtle
The treasures of the ocean have universal appeal and we all have our favourites. This collection of five was both a challenge and a joy and I love them all.
On a flowing base depicting waves in cobalt, indigo and turquoise, sits our turtles. Myrtle the turtle is not portrayed in the traditional way with predictable colours - quite the reverse! She has a shell of multi-coloured plates all defined by slithers of gold, with the tail and legs in cerulean and turquoise. The addition of seagrass and rocks at the base add a footing to the composition.
50 x 20cm stretched canvas with resin finish.
